  1. Verse 17 - "Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and does not do it, sins."

This is a very strong statement when it comes to sin, and I think it gets overlooked. When we think of sins we think of adultery, lying, stealing, murder, etc.

But, as followers of Christ, faith without deeds is dead. James already told us that in Chapter 2. Here he is reminding us again.

"Anyone, who knows the good he ought to do and does not do it, SINS."

  2. 15 Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."

My possessions and experiences have nothing to do with me or the money I spend for these things. These things are a direct result of my Father in Heaven looking over me and placing things in my life that are part of His plan for me. All that I am and all that I have come from Him.

  3. 1 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? 2 You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. 3. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
4 You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

HOW strong of statements here. Anyone who CHOOSES to be a FRIEND of THE WORLD becomes and ENEMY of GOD. We have to remind ourselves we are not of this world. We do not need fancy cars, Big houses, luxury vaccations. All we need, God provides for us.

I have found that out this year. I used to have cable, and high speed internet, and would eat out alot, and loved to shop. I thought this stuff would bring happiness. God led me to humble myself after my husband left, and the car accident. I now have 5 chanels on the tv, and dial up internet, I go out to eat once a month and I enjoy just reading a book for pleasure. Before All this happened, God showed me what he wanted for me thru a dream. I dreamed that I was not satisfied in my marriage and I left to join the amish. God was showing me that I didn't need these worldly posessions. I left my old friends behind, and prayed God would lead me to christians. Thank you Lord for leading me to Charter OAK !!! Something else I learned this week as well... Worry is the fear of not getting what you want. So when you start to worry or get anxious, ask God to show you the ways in which Satan is trying to make you selfish. As God says, "Be worried and anxious for nothing..." God provides in every aspect for our lives. Lean on the tree of life, and watch your branches flourish !!! PRAISE GOD !!
