Verse 10 - "Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, there they will see me."
This is Jesus talking about the same men who betrayed Him just a few days earlier. Men who publicly denied Him, fled from His side, so they could be safe.
Jesus calls them BROTHERS. What a Savior! What a God! What a friend! Despite all my sins and disobedience, Jesus loves me like a brother.
19 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
I love that this verse isn't just making disciples and baptism - two very important things - but also about teaching others to obey the commands of the Lord. As we reach out to others who are seeking God, we need to be living in such a way that they can see that we desire to obey God, and that God wants our obedience. And just when that seems impossible, Jesus reminds us (in what has the ring of a "Chronicles of Narnia" ending) that He is with us, "even unto the end of the age." We are called to these things, and then Jesus tells us that he won't leave us to our own devices to accomplish them, but that he will be with us forever and ever.
Charter Oak Church is a family of Jesus followers who want to reach out to those who are searching and equip believers to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.

I want to be able to love like Jesus.

ReplyDeleteHere is the concept of the Trinity coming straight from Jesus' mouth! He affirms it for us! He didn't say "in the names of ..." he said "name".
How can anyone deny that the Trinity is real?

Well-said, Leeanne. It's wonderful to know he's right here beside us as we stumble along.
