Verse 14, "In everything he did he had great success, because the Lord was with him."
Our success is not our own. David was able to do what he did BECAUSE God was with him. There is no mention that David did something and then God blessed him. Every action and every step that David took was directed by God. He defeated the armies because of God. He was not pinned to the wall by Saul's spear because God was with with.
I don't ever want to be seen as successful because of my doing. I don't ever want to take credit for the work of God. Charter Oak Church is the Bride of Christ. It is God who brings the growth. It is God who draws people here. It is God who transforms lives for eternity. I want success in the eyes of God and for God to get all the praise and glory for what is happening in my life.
1 After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself. 2 From that day Saul kept David with him and did not let him return to his father's house. 3 And Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself.
Isn't that amazing. David was not talking with Jonathan, but with Saul, yet Jonathan learned about God. Jonathan chose to accept Christ as demonstrated when it said he became one in Spirt with David. Christs spirit was already in David, so Jonathan joined David in his beliefs and accepted Christ and that's how he became one, that's how he could love him as himself.
Father, I just pray that I can be like David. That I can share your word and love with someone and while sharing that others hearing can accept your love and lifestyle the same way as Jonathan. Let every action, every step and every word come from you and you alone Lord. We have so many people attending Charter oak, yet some still have that lost look lord, some are focused on other things of this world like our economy. Please speak thru me Lord, and allow me to share your love.
