Verse 6 - "I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ."
Active to me means regularly exercising our salvation; sharing our relationship with Christ through words, actions, relationships, and service. I former spiritual mentor once told me that if you find yourselve sharing the same "God happenings and events" in your life with other people; that you need to examine your walk with Him. We should have fresh accounts to share of how God is working in and through our lives. If we do not, then we are just "playing church". I think this applies to us as individuals and as a church. We must be active in sharing our faith.
When we are active in sharing our faith, God gives us a fuller understanding of just how much He loves us. Who doesn't want that feeling today?
"I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ."
I Think that is a powerful verse as well Rich. Often times I find myself wanting a full understanding so i can go forth and share but this verse lets me know it is the exact opposite. I should be actively sharing my story of faith and that will bring me the full understanding of what is mine in Christ. One more example of the importance of faith. Go forth in faith and the revelation will come. It doesn't come before I am willing to go forth in faith.
20 I do wish, brother, that I may have some benefit from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in Christ. 21 Confident of your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I ask. 22 And one thing more: Prepare a guest room for me, because I hope to be restored to you in answer to your prayers.
Refresh your heart in the lord. Renew your mind daily thru God's word. Paul was confident of our obedience, because when you love the lord, it is easy to be obedient.
As I read .. " And one thing more: Prepare a guest room for me, because I hope to be restored to you in answer to your prayers." I felt as though it were GOD speaking thru Paul. This is what he wants for us. He wants us to prepare the room for him in our hearts and our minds. He needs us to rid our lives of the worldly junk taking up the space that he needs in us.
It made me think of my life before Christ. How different I was... How gracious I am that Christ wanted a room in ME !!!
He wants the same for you too. Will you clear out junk so he can move in ???
