  1. Verse 27 - "Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ."

This verse, along with verse 1 where it states Paul & Timothy - "servants of Christ" really speak to me.

I need the mindset of a servant of Christ each and every day - I need to be thinking of Him, learning and understanding who He is and what he desires, and knowing/obeying His rules/laws/guidelines for righteous living.

Whatever life has to offer me (or deny me), my actions and thoughts need to be of Him and for Him.

  2. Verse 9 & 10 - "And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ."

This verse jumped out at me because of the prayer for love to abound more and more. I also really resonated with the realization that Paul wants disernment for what is best for the church. I often think there is an attitude of just getting by with the least amount and calling it being humble, when it has nothing to do with humility and everything to do with an unwillingness to go after what is best. God and the church deserve my best.

  3. Verse 10 was originally the one that jumped out at me, but as the day progressed I found that I had to go back and include verse 9. I think it really made more sense to me,(Knowledge!!!) I want to follow Christ and manifest that with his love. Paul prayed that the love would abound with knowledge and discernment. So much of what the Lord has been teaching me through Chris is that I just need to get back to the very basics and quit making it so hard. When we are in the word it all makes sense.

We are designed to love others, it just gets lost in the translation sometimes. I just need to love, learn and discern!

  4. Verse 7... "he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of our Lord Jesus Christ"... This verse always makes me think... He really did begin a good work in me... and if I work with Him, He will bring it to completion! WOW, Lord, help me work with you... so that when I meet Jesus, the good work in me will that you created will shine.

  5. Verse 1! ...to all the saints in Jesus Christ...which are with the bishops and the deacons. Paul is not speaking to the high officials of the church, he is speaking to the people. The ones that are down in the trenches, in the neighborhoods, in the schools, in the offices...people getting down and dirty with the work...US. We, the people who will every day face challenges to our faith. He challenges US to go deeper with our God, that love may abound creating a deeper knowledge of Christ and a depth of insight and discernment (v.9) So that we may live in this world, and be not of it. That we may approve things that are excellent, differentiate between right and wrong, good and bad, vital and trivial...and be His Light.
