  1. v1-2 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

I guess that I have never really looked at verse 2. I have always stopped at verse 1 and went on from there. v2 tells us that the way we judge others is how we will be measured. When we think we are too good, then we are not good enough. If we feel someone is beneath us, we in reality cannot even measure up to them.
So we need to honor and respect everyone, treating them with an attitude of true servitude, this will enable them to see us in the same way. Helping that homeless man on the street empowers him to help you sometime in the future

  2. verse 6 - "Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces."

When I read this verse, I think He is suggesting we need to be careful who we speak the Word of God to. Those who are bent on evil and of this world, will only use our words against us. We need to be wise about who we witness to.

I could use some help. Anyone else have some thoughts on this verse. PLEASE SHARE.

  3. Verses 7-8, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."

The desire of God is for us to bring everything to Him. I know I try to do it on my own. I don't have to, God wants me to bring it to Him and lay it at His feet and He will meet my every need. I have to remember that it all begins with seeking the Kingdom of God first, though.

I want to live in such a way that every moment and every activity I bring before God in some way. That may mean that I know the Bible so well that I filter decisions through a Biblical world-view. It may mean that I stop in all my running around and seek God's wisdom or patience about a situation. It may mean slowing down long enough and getting quiet enough to hear God's still, small voice guiding me and directing me.

God wants the very best for me, He loves me. Why do I still have trouble some times asking for His help?

  4. In Reference to Rich's comment:

There are certain times and places where it is not worthwhile to say a word. This is a judgement that you need to make.

The stubborn enemies of the gospel are unworthy to have it preached unto them.

Our words are pearls. Pearls were known to the Greeks for it's brightness and had great value of 250 thousand crowns. God's word that we speak is the most precious heavenly doctrine.

To try to instill holy words and ways into such low, unclean, and sordid brutal minds depicted by the snarling dogs is useless. They will only make rude remarks about what you are trying to say. They oppose God's word in such a way that they will speak loud and bad about it. The wild dog's feed on garbage, not on God's word. If you have ever had someone stand up and say "Preach us a sermon" and everyone laughs you know what I am saying. You don't want God's word to be made fun of.

These are Swine or men so dull, lost, imbruted and senseless, as to reject the pearls (God's Word) of truth. It is our duty to help and to try to save others, but we must use common sense so that we may stand up for God and not be tempted to fall ourselves.

In other word's this is God's warning for us. IF we try to preach to those who are completely against Christ, then they will try to trample us with our own words, they will try to question us to the point that we start to doubt what God's word actually says, and they will lure us over to their side.

That is why God's word also tells us that we should be able to win people over in such a way that our actions should win them and not our words.

But remember, we are not to judge either. We aren't to look at someone's actions and say well they are not a christian because... We are to just listen to their words, look at their ways and act and speak according to God's ways for us. There are times God tells us to speak, and other times just listen and let the other side learn by our examples.
